North BaliThe North Coast represents the more " untouched
" areas of Bali, with a much more relaxed atmosphere coupled with
a more traditional lifestyle. Just a few minutes west of Singaraja,
the island's former Dutch Colonial capital, lies Lovina, a lovely village
situated on a unique stretch of black sand beach. Here the pace is slow,
with little in the way of shops and nightlife. The offshore reefs, and
numerous Dolphins inhabiting the clear waters, make this are very popular
destination for divers and those seeking a more " natural "
escape. For those in search of an even more laid back destination, 45
minutes to the west of Lovina lies the small island of Menjangan, which
provides some of the best diving in Bali. Development here is sparse,
as the Bali Barat National Park extends throughout this region. As a
result, all hotels in this are very much influenced by the surroundings
and are very traditional in style. |
